Book Review

Jennifer Fulwiler. Something Other Than God: How I Passionately Sought Happiness and Accidentally Found It. San Francisco: Ignatius Press. 2014.

Something Other than God is Jennifer Fulwiler’s conversion story. Today, she is a Catholic blogger, radio host, author, wife and mother of six [].

Jennifer grew up atheist. While her parents were kind and loving, Jenifer’s father was an atheist and her mother was religiously indifferent. Her father always told her to seek truth and question assumptions, principles which aided her throughout her journey. Religious people seemed illogical and superstitious to Jennifer, and she knew relatively few growing up.

To learn more, you will have to read the book.

Fulwiler is a good writer: honest, reflective and funny. She is unafraid to reveal the intimate struggles that her disbelief, and then her newfound belief, caused. She can think through things logically and yet laugh at herself when not acting logically. She has mastered the art of tongue in cheek.

This is a great book, especially for the atheist, skeptic or those living with atheists and skeptics.

Conversion stories is a favorite genre of mine, not surprisingly, and to date, Jenifer’s story is one of my favorites.
